A 16-year-old student from Gwalior, Medhansh Trivedi, has achieved a remarkable feat by developing a heavy-duty drone capable of carrying a human weighing up to 80 kg. Inspired by China’s air taxi technology, Trivedi, a Class 12 student at The Scindia School, has named the drone MLDT 01. After three months of dedicated work and an investment of Rs 3.5 lakh, the young innovator has made impressive strides in the field of drone technology.
Inspiration Behind the Innovation
The idea for the Human-Carrying Drone came when Trivedi was casually scrolling through YouTube and stumbled upon a video of China’s air taxi, a four-seater drone. The steep cost of the air taxi inspired Trivedi to design a similar drone on a more affordable budget. “I started researching how drones are built and decided to create my own,” Trivedi explained in an interview with News18. The result of his hard work is the MLDT 01, a drone designed with performance and practicality in mind.
Key Features of the MLDT 01 Drone
The MLDT 01 is an electric-powered drone that boasts a power output of 45 horsepower. It can carry up to 80 kg and maintain a flight speed of 60 km/h. With a flight duration of six minutes and a maximum altitude of 10 meters, this drone is currently restricted for safety purposes. The design of the drone features four motors commonly used in agricultural drones, enabling it to lift heavy loads.

Currently, Trivedi is working on a hybrid model to further improve the drone’s capabilities. This advanced version promises enhanced flight times and overall performance.
A Young Innovator’s Journey
Trivedi’s journey into Human-Carrying Drone development began with an interest in aerodynamics and technology, sparked by a classroom session conducted by his teacher, Manoj Mishra. “I gave a class on how airplanes are built, and that’s when Medhansh got interested in the process,” Mishra told News18. Motivated by this inspiration, Trivedi dove into online research and began constructing drones on his own. With continued guidance from his teachers, Trivedi further refined his drone-building skills.
This isn’t the first time Trivedi has ventured into building high-tech devices. He has previously built remote-controlled airplanes, cars, and even designed a suicide drone. With his talent and ambition, Trivedi aims to start his own tech venture after completing his studies.
