A Delhi man, Siddharth Kishore Guru, shared a disconcerting experience with Tata Cliq after placing an order for Apple AirPods but got an empty box with a worthless watch instead. He posted this frustration on his social media handle X and branded it his “first delivery scam,” detailing surprise at the empty box and a low-value watch inside.

He, in his now-deleted post, was disappointing about Tata Cliq and had said that for over a decade, he never faced such an issue while ordering from Amazon and Flipkart. “10+ years of Amazon & Flipkart. Never a single order went wrong. Recently started trusting Tata Cliq due to Tata Companies name & they sent me an empty AirPods box & some 150 rs watch,” he said.

He later clarified that Tata Cliq had initiated a refund, but the experience left him wary of the e-commerce platform. He wrote, “Customer service of  @TataCLiQFashion has resolved my issue related to scam delivery. They have initiated a refund & regret about the inconvenience. So, deleting the related post considering some bad apple in delivery chain might be the reason behind it. Thank you.”

Siddharth added that he would stick to Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, and Blinkit for future purchases. “Taking a lesson and will stick to Amazon, Blinkit, Myntra, Flipkart in future. Have ordered even currency notes from half-decent websites & never got scammed even by them,” he commented on X.

Siddharth further posted a picture of the Apple AirPods box with the golden-colored watch inside, which made him even more frustrated. He thought about filing a complaint but did not do so as the time taken by the incident was too much.

In the comments, some social media users suggested that people should record their unboxing, especially for expensive items like electronics. “Rule of law from anyone other than Amazon is start making a video as you start opening box,” suggested user Rishi Singh. Another user shared a similar experience with Flipkart, noting the importance of unboxing videos to prevent scams. “It happens in every e-commerce site. I had such experience with Flipkart once. Tampered/expired bottles of supplements. Unboxing video is compulsory.”
