Pizza Hut in China has rolled out a peculiar new menu item: a pizza topped with deep-fried bullfrog. Food trend expert David Henke shared a photo of this limited-edition offering on X (formerly Twitter), showing an ad for the unique pizza. He remarked, “In proof that other countries/cultures prefer different types of proteins, Pizza Hut is offering a pizza topped with a frog for a limited time in China – and the frog is trending.”
The pizza features a thick crust, a red sauce base, a bed of parsley, and a whole deep-fried bullfrog at the center. The frog’s “eyes” are made from hard-boiled egg halves topped with black olives, creating a striking visual.
While the exact availability of this pizza is unclear, reports from Maeil Business Newspaper in Korea suggest it was launched in collaboration with Dungeons and Dragons, named “Goblin Pizza,” inspired by one of the game’s characters.
The unusual creation has sparked reactions online. A Reddit user shared a real-life photo, with many commenting in disbelief. Some users called it “Pure blasphemy,” while others expressed their disapproval, with one stating, “This pizza is a felony.” Another quipped, “Why ruin a pizza like that?”
A more sympathetic commenter said, “I would not be mad if the pizza underneath the frog was passable,” while a jokester added, “You can ribbet this right into the garbage.”
