Bengaluru Techie’s ₹70 LPA Bid Shot Down On Shaadi.com

A Bengaluru-based IT professional experienced a setback when he messaged a woman on a matrimonial site, only to be gently turned down by her father, who prioritized a cricket match over discussing potential partnerships.

Rahul, a 28-year-old software engineer based in Bengaluru, contacted Priyanka on Shaadi.com. In his message, he introduced himself and mentioned his annual salary of ₹70 lakhs, concluding with the statement, “I believe we’d be very compatible.”

“Hello, I’m Rahul, software engineer from Bangalore. Saw your daughter’s profile on Shaadi.com. Currently at 70LPA CTC and I believe we’d be very compatible,” he wrote.

Rahul received a reply from Priyanka’s father, who suggested they could discuss further after the cricket match.

“Hello, thanks! I’m Priyanka’s dad. Match ke baad baat karte hain (Let’s talk after the match),” the father replied.

Here’s the humorous exchange:

Rahul’s cousin, Naina, posted a screenshot of the exchange on X. Within a day, it garnered over half a million views on the platform, sparking widespread amusement among viewers.

“Uncle had his priorities clear. England ko haraane ke baad baat karenge (Talking can happen after India beats England),” posted one comment referring to T20 World Cup semi-final between India vs. England, which India won by 68 runs.

“Uncle’s got priorities,” another wrote, while a third commented: “Shaadi toh hoti rahegi match nahi rukna chahiye (Weddings will keep happening, nothing should interrupt the match).”

Meanwhile, with an unbeaten India and South Africa set to clash in the T20 World Cup final at Kensington Oval, Barbados tonight, it’s likely that Rahul and Priyanka’s marriage discussions will only resume after what promises to be an exciting final concludes and one team lifts the trophy.
