Alexander McQueen’s ₹2.5 Lakh Hoof Boots: A Fashion Flop Or Trendsetter?

Fashion brand Alexander McQueen is creating a stir with its latest release: the Hoof Boots, priced at $2990 (approximately Rs 2.5 lakh). These unique boots, which tap into the Horse Girl trend, feature a horseshoe detail on the sole, a back zip, and silver buckles with nail studs. Made from Margarita brown calf hair, the boots are attracting attention for their daring design. This is the same brand that brought the iconic Armadillo Shoes, famously worn by Lady Gaga. The Hoof Boots have elicited a variety of reactions on social media, with some critics labeling the design as “cheap” and others expressing concerns about the brand’s declining quality.

On the other hand, fashion aficionados familiar with McQueen recognize that the brand consistently pushes the boundaries of fashion with bold and unconventional creations. The Made in Italy boots are part of the Autumn Winter 2024 collection, designed by Sean McGirr. According to Rain Magazine, McGirr described the collection as a tribute to London’s vibrant and energetic spirit.

Responding to the post, one user wrote,  “I want hoof boots but these look cheap.”

Another shared, “It’s giving NARNIA.”

“This really showcases how far the McQueen brand has dropped in quality and vision,” a comment read.

Louis Vuitton faced a backlash sometime back following the launch of a new boots design by Nicolas Ghesquiere. The boots immediately went viral due to their rather strange appearance with some users describing them as resembling an ostrich. Black and brown color with laces on the lower part of the boots sparked quite a stir. Although Louis Vuitton is known to set fashion, these boots sparked mixed reaction on social media. Some users questioned whether the design was ground-breaking or just plain ugly.
