Before competing in the women’s 50kg division gold medal match at the Paris Olympics, Vinesh Phogat wrestled the final. It was like a reverse draw for Vinesh to defeat Yui Susaki in the pre-quarterfinals, as she had only ever won gold in her 82-0 undefeated international career prior to Tuesday, including the gold from the Tokyo Olympics.
After the last whistle, Susaki and Vinesh were both in shock. Vinesh may have been astounded by how the Almighty wrote her story as she thumped the mat and laid flat, tears in her eyes, recalling her career-threatening injury in Rio 2016.
Glory is for those who endure and dare! 💪
