In a review meeting with Deputy Commissioners, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, emphasized the significance of the ongoing Viksit Bharat Sankalap Yatra (VBSY) in the panchayats, highlighting its potential to bring about transformative changes in rural lives.
The campaign aims to mobilize the general public, encouraging their active participation in VBSY to familiarize them with various government welfare schemes. Bidhuri stressed that achieving universal coverage of all panchayats in districts is essential for rural transformation, calling for comprehensive measures and extensive efforts. He particularly emphasized the role of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Vans in disseminating information and creating awareness about centrally sponsored schemes.
Deputy Commissioners reported that information dissemination and awareness activities are in full swing, with IEC Vans playing a pivotal role in educating people about welfare schemes and the procedures to avail benefits.
In addition to the VBSY review, the Divisional Commissioner also assessed the current power scenario in the valley and the availability of electricity to consumers across districts. He directed concerned officers to strictly adhere to the power curtailment schedule to prevent any crisis. Bidhuri urged vigilance against power theft and discouraged the use of crude electric devices.
Considering the impending inclement weather, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed the exigency plan of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Ltd. (KPDCL) for the restoration of electricity in the event of heavy snowfall. He also examined the buffer stock of transformers, electric poles, and the functionality of workshops.
Bidhuri stated that the procurement of additional electricity would significantly improve the overall power scenario in the valley.
In a separate meeting, the Divisional Commissioner chaired discussions on the revision of market value guidelines and rules, as well as the revision of rates for the upcoming calendar year.
