The court in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi Court in the case of Awadhesh Rai murder case 1991 convicted the former UP MLA Mukhtar Ansari.
The bench headed by Special Judge MP/MLA Avneesh Gautam convicted after hearing the case which the court concluded on May 19, 2023. The court sent the former UP MLA Mukhtar Ansari to life imprisonment. The court also imposed the fine for an amount of Rs. 1 lakh upon him.
The court in the case noted that the Congress leader and brother of Former MLA Ajay Rai, Awadhesh Rai on 03.08.1991 was on the ground down in broad daylight outside Ajay Rai’s house in Varanasi. In the said case Ajay Rai had named Mukhtar Ansari, Bhim Singh, former MLA Abdul Kalim, Kamlesh Singh, and Rakesh in the FIR.
The court in the case stated that the original case diary went missing in June 2022, thus, the court in the case have already registered a case in this matter wherein Ansari has been accused of using his influence to destroy the same.
The court in in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur District convicted Ansari and his aide, Bhim Singh in the Gangster Act case which is being registered under 5 matters which includes the Awdhesh Rai Murder case
