Former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela may again join the Congress. Congress leader Bharatsinh Solanki is mediating to bring Shankarsinh back to the party. Congress High Command will seal Vaghela’s return to Congress.

Shankarsinh Vaghela posted a video on Facebook saying, “If Sonia Gandhi called me to talk, I would go to Delhi and have discussions with her. Besides, if the Congress High Command tells me, I will go to the Congress unconditionally and without hesitation”.

“I naturally went there when Congress leader Ahmed Patel died and his body was brought to his hometown. Many veteran Congress leaders and workers met me there and wept. They told me to come back to Congress now. There was no scope for any discussion of politics at that time. Even after that, many Congress leaders insisted that it would be better if you join the Congress now. My answer to this regard is the same.”

“I have been relations with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in Delhi for years. When those people call me and say that Bapu come to Delhi to have a conversation about what you should do politically, I will definitely go to Delhi.

In the coming days, if the Congress High Command tells me anything, I am going to fight the Bharatiya Janata Party, I will go to Delhi and talk to them. If Congress tells me to come to Congress, I will go to Congress unconditionally.” Shankarsinh, who started his political journey by joining BJP (Jana Sangh), established RJP after BJP. He later joined the Congress and also became the textile minister at the Centre. However, at the time of the 2017 Assembly elections he formed a party called Jan Vikalp.
