The Union Public Service Commission has prepared a panel of names for three senior officers for the new DGP of Haryana Police. The names of 1989 batch IPS Mohd Akil, RC Mishra, and 1990 batch Shatrujeet Kapoor are included in the panel. UPSC did not discuss the name of 1988 batch IPS Manoj Yadav because Yadav has already stated in writing that he is not willing to go to Haryana. Yadav has been appointed Director General of the Railway Protection Force by the Central Government.
The current DGP, Prashant Kumar Agarwal, will retire on August 15. On Thursday, a committee meeting was held at the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in New Delhi regarding the new DGP of Haryana. Sources say that the panel of three senior IPS officers was unanimously decided upon in the meeting. Now UPSC will send this panel to the Haryana Government. It is believed that it may take a day or two to prepare the minutes of this meeting. After the panel comes to the Haryana government, the state government has the right to appoint any of the three officers as DGP. Sources say that the UPSC committee has included the names of three senior officers—Mohd Akil, R C Mishra, and Shatrujeet Kapoor—in the panel. The name of 1988-batch IPS Manoj Yadav was not considered because he had already refused to come to Haryana.
Apart from two senior members of the Commission, two representatives of the Union Home Ministry were also present in the meeting held at UPSC on Thursday. On behalf of Haryana, Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal and present DGP PK Aggarwal participated in the meeting. Sources say that the names of these three officers have been included in the unanimously decided panel for DGP.
