Voting was conducted peacefully across 165 Assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Goa on Monday, said the Election Commission of India.

Goa on Monday registered a very high voter turnout of 78.94% polling for the 40 Assembly seats. Voting passed off peacefully with no untoward incident reported from any part of the state which witnessed a multi-cornered contest, Chief Electoral Officer Kunal said.

Voting took place on all Assembly seats in Goa and Uttarakhand on Monday, along with 55 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh in the second phase of the Assembly elections. In Goa and Uttarakhand, Chief Ministers Pramod Sawant and Pushkar Singh Dhami contested the polls. In Uttar Pradesh, jailed Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam were among the prominent candidates in the fray.

Uttar Pradesh recorded a voter turnout of 60.44% till 5 pm on Monday in the second phase. According to the ECI, Saharanpur witnessed the highest voter turnout of 67.05%, followed by Amroha (66.15%) and Moradabad (64.52%) till 5 pm. Shahjahanpur recorded the lowest percentage of voter turnout of 55.20%. Further, Bareilly reported a voter turnout of 57.68%, while Sambhal saw 56.88% voter turnout. Budaun reported 55.98% voter turnout, Bijnor 61.44%, while Rampur registered 60.10% polling.

Uttarakhand reported 59.37% voter turnout till 5 pm as elections for the 70-member state Assembly was held on Monday. According to the Election Commission, Haridwar reported the highest percentage of voter turnout, with 67.58%, followed by Uttarkashi (65.55%) and Udham Singh Nagar (65.13%) till 5 pm. Almora reported the lowest percentage of voter turnout of 50.65% till 5 pm. Dehradun reported 52.93%, Bageshwar 57.83%, Chamoli 59.28% and Champawat recorded 56.97% turnout. Further, Pauri Garhwal logged 51.93%, Pithoragarh 57.49%, Rudraprayag 60.36% and Tehri Garhwal 52.66% voter turnout.
