A 58-year-old government school teacher, Malti Verma, from Achhnera in Agra, died from a cardiac arrest after receiving a distressing call from cyber fraudsters. The scammers falsely claimed that her daughter was involved in a sex scandal, demanding ₹1 lakh to avoid revealing the supposed scandal.

The Deceptive Call

On September 30, Malti received a WhatsApp call around 2 PM. The caller, impersonating a police inspector, threatened her with severe consequences if she did not comply with their demands. The family stated that the shocking news led Malti to panic and anxiety.

Family’s Response

Deepanshu Rajput, Malti’s son, recounted the moment she informed him about the call. “I checked the phone number and told my mother it was a fraud call,” he said. After speaking with his sister, he reassured Malti that everything was fine. Unfortunately, the stress from the call took a toll on her health.

Health Decline and Aftermath

Upon returning home from work, Malti began to complain of chest pain and anxiety. Despite their attempts to comfort her, her condition worsened, and the family rushed her to a local hospital, where doctors declared her dead due to cardiac arrest.

Anandveer Singh, the in-charge of Jagdishpura police station, confirmed that they had received a complaint regarding the incident. “Action will be taken accordingly,” he assured.
