In an initiative to foster harmony and trust within the community, the police in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi district began addressing disputes among schoolchildren.
To help children voice their concerns, the Hardoi police installed pink complaint boxes in schools. Students were encouraged to submit anonymous complaints about issues they were facing at school. Every Tuesday, police officers visited the schools to open the boxes and resolve the complaints.
The Hardoi Police shared on X, “In compliance with the orders of Mr. Superintendent of Police, a total of 12 complaint letters were received in the pink complaint boxes in November, which were resolved promptly.” The complaints included issues such as bullying on the school bus, fights with friends, and problems with teachers.

Some complaints were about children being punished for not solving math problems, while one student reported that their sharpener had been stolen. The police promptly intervened and met with the students, offering resolutions and mediating disputes. They ensured both sides of the story were heard and helped to resolve the issues amicably.
The initiative received praise from internet users, with many admiring the UP police for their efforts to strengthen community bonds at the grassroots level. “It’s great to see them stretching their potential and doing tasks exceeding their abilities,” one user commented.
Another user joked, “Do they take complaints 20 years old? My safety pin was lost. I can provide clues too. It was rusted and slightly twisted.”
