Until we work together Congress can suffer electoral loss: Selja

Congress leader Selja Kumari has said that as long as the party does not come together and work in unison, the Congress will continue to suffer losses, and party workers will remain confused. “Such things cannot work in any organisation. Until there is balance, the workers will suffer, and the politics of ‘yours’ and ‘mine’ should not exist as it harms both the workers and the public,” the leader said.
The Congress has been conducting its “Haath se Haath Jodo” campaign across the state of Haryana. Kumari—Congress in-charge of Chhattisgarh and former Congress president of Haryana—visited the Pinjore, Kalka, and Barwala areas under the Ambala Lok Sabha constituency and interacted with the people as part of this campaign. In an exclusive interview with India News, the Congress leader said: “It is my responsibility to take this programme forward in the place where I once served as an MP. There is a new enthusiasm and zeal among the workers who are in favour of Congress and Rahul Gandhi and against the BJP.” Regarding whether or not she would be contesting the Ambala Lok Sabha seat, Shailja said, “We respect the high command’s orders, and we have always followed whatever they have said. It is our responsibility to keep the people together and strengthen the party. The people of Sirsa and Ambala have elected me repeatedly, and we have also organised rallies and programs in Hisar, Faridabad, Karnal, and Panipat. In a press conference with Randeep Surjewala and Kiran Chaudhary, I said that we have held such press conferences before, and it is necessary to bring the wrong policies of the BJP to the people’s attention.”
She also responded to statements made by certain Congress MLAs, positioning Bhupinder Singh Hooda as the next Chief Minister and said that only statements given responsibly are accepted by the people. “But we have a high command here, and the Congress party has a system. We have no objection to anyone being associated with anyone. However, who will be associated with the Congress system is yet to be seen.” Referring to the Hooda camp, Kumari said that when the high command’s orders or statements by Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge are not taken into consideration, it only serves to weaken the party. As to whether she might be made Chief Minister, Kumari explained that the Congress party has a system. “When we are in Opposition, CM projects are never undertaken, but when we become the CM, it becomes our responsibility to bring the Congress into good standing. Some people have different desires, but that is a different matter.”
Kumari further said that in 10 years, people have turned away from the BJP, and they have distanced themselves from the party.
