“Connectivity is the new element shaping global ties,” Jaishankar stated, citing progress in collaboration with the UAE and Saudi Arabia despite ongoing challenges in the Middle East.

Bilateral Meetings on Key Global Issues

On the sidelines of the conference, Jaishankar engaged in discussions with key counterparts:

  • France: Meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, Jaishankar reviewed the Indo-French partnership and deliberated on the Indo-Pacific, Ukraine, and global challenges.
  • Ukraine: With Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Jaishankar reiterated India’s support for “dialogue and diplomacy” to resolve conflicts and explored bilateral cooperation.
  • Lebanon: Jaishankar and Lebanese FM Abdallah Bou Habib discussed strengthening ties, pledging to maintain close contact.
  • Croatia: Meeting with Croatian FM Gordan Grlic Radman, Jaishankar appreciated Croatia’s positive outlook on bilateral relations.

India’s Stance on Middle East Conflict

Addressing the escalating conflict in West Asia, Jaishankar strongly condemned terrorism and hostage-taking while calling for adherence to international humanitarian law.

“India unequivocally condemns terrorism and large-scale civilian casualties. A ceasefire is essential, and international humanitarian law must be upheld,” he stressed.

He also highlighted India’s proactive role in mediating communication between Israel and Iran to advocate restraint and resolve conflicts.

Focus on Regional Cooperation

Jaishankar emphasized the significance of the I2U2 grouping, comprising India, Israel, the UAE, and the US, which he predicted will play a larger role in the region’s stability and development.
