EAM Jaishankar Congratulates Albania On Liberation Day

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar congratulated Albania on its Liberation Day, expressing optimism about the growing India-Albania partnership.

In a post on X, Jaishankar conveyed his greetings to Albania’s Foreign Minister Igli Hasani and the Albanian people:

“Congratulate FM @IgliHasani and the Government and people of Albania on their Liberation Day.”

He also expressed confidence that the recently established Indian resident mission in Tirana will enhance bilateral cooperation.

Strengthening India-Albania Relations

The ties between India and Albania have been marked by a positive trajectory in recent years. Diplomatic relations were established in 1956, and in August 2024, India opened its resident mission in Tirana to further boost cooperation.

  1. Bilateral Consultations in Tirana (October 2024):
    The two nations reviewed political relations, trade, cultural exchange, and people-to-people ties. They also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest.
  2. Voice of the Global South Summit (November 2023):
    Albania was represented by Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, Albania Tole.
  3. Raisina Dialogue (February 2024):
    Jaishankar met Albanian Foreign Minister Igli Hasani to explore avenues for strengthening ties.

Growing Trade and Cultural Exchange

Bilateral trade has seen consistent growth over the last five years. Key exports include petroleum products, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, iron and steel, lime, and cement.

Cultural ties have also strengthened, with India promoting:
