The Election Department is making efforts to ensure that every voter can contribute to the democratic process without hindrance. For the first time, a polling station has been established at an altitude of 4,921 feet in Sheragang, situated in the Abu-Pindwara constituency of Sirohi district. The polling party set out early on Friday, covering a trek of about 18 kilometres with the assistance of the Forest Guard to reach the polling station. A total of 117 voters have a polling centre established for them here. Previously, Sheragang voters had to travel to a polling centre in the distant Utraj village. However, this time, establishing a polling centre in Sheragang itself will make it much easier for voters.
Additionally, in the border village of Paar in the Barmer district, a polling centre has been set up for just 35 voters. In another village, Manjholi, in the Barmer district, a polling centre for 49 voters has been established for the first time, eliminating the need for villagers to travel 5 kilometres to vote. In Jaisalmer, a temporary booth has been set up at a height of 50 meters in the Mainau polling centre for just 50 voters. In the Dhaulpur district, a Kali Tir polling centre has been established for the first time to cater to 682 voters in the Dang constituency. Previously, these voters had to travel 7.5 kilometres to a polling centre.
Praveen Gupta, Chief Election Officer, Rajasthan, said, “No voter should be deprived of their voting rights due to the inability to reach the polling centre. In this direction, special preparations have been made on the directives of the Election Commission. Polling centres have been established in the state, from remote mountainous regions to sparsely populated desert areas.”
