Union Minister Anurag Thakur unveils first season of 'Swaraj' on OTT

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Singh Thakur unveiled the first season of “Swaraj” on the OTT platform Amazon Prime. Simultaneously, ‘Sardar: The Game Changer,’ a new series chronicling the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, was launched on Doordarshan.

During the event, Shri Thakur expressed reverence for the unsung heroes of India’s independence struggle, highlighting their sacrifices. He disclosed that the series was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national campaign, “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.”

Emphasizing the importance of embracing India’s historical legacy, Shri Thakur stressed the role of heritage in shaping a strong future, urging pride in the youth regarding the nation’s history.

The Union Minister reaffirmed the government’s dedication to bolstering the Media & Entertainment sector globally, citing initiatives such as streamlining business processes for the film industry and offering incentives. He encouraged the production of quality content in Indian languages, citing the accessibility of global audiences.

Ahead of the launch, Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO of Prasar Bharati, discussed efforts to extend the reach of the series to the youth through OTT platforms, expressing satisfaction in partnering with Amazon Prime to share the stories of India’s heroes.

The event was attended by dignitaries including Country Director of Prime Video Sushant Sreeram, Producer of ‘Swaraj’ Abhimanyu Singh, among others.
