Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya held a meeting with World Health Organisation (WHO) Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus ahead of the G20 Health Ministers’ Meeting, which will begin on 17 August at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who arrived in India on 16 August, appreciated the arrangements made after he visited the wellness and health centre in Adraj-Gandhinagar.

Tedros took to his official handle on X, formerly Twitter, and wrote, “Delighted to be in #India for the @WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit, the Ministerial Meeting on Ending TB in @WHOSEARO and the G20 Health Ministers Meeting. Namaste India!”

He added, “Honoured to visit the wellness and health centre in Adraj-Gandhinagar, #India, which provides #primaryhealthcare services, including maternal care and management of non-communicable diseases, to almost 5000 people from 1000 households. This is what #HealthForAll looks like.”

The G20 Health Minister’s Meeting is all set to begin in Gandhinagar on 17 August (today) and the event will be concluded on 16 August.

According to the statement issued by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, the main goal of the G20 Health Minister’s Meeting is to focus on the three key priorities of the G20 — Health Track, including health emergencies prevention, preparedness and response with emphasis on anti-microbial resistance and One Health framework; solidifying cooperation and collaboration in the pharmaceutical sector with an emphasis on access and availability to safe, quality, effective, and affordable medical countermeasures (Vaccines, Therapeutics and Diagnostics); and, at last, Digital Health innovations and solutions to provide to universal health coverage and enhance healthcare service delivery.
