As the Telangana Assembly elections approach, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) released its list of candidates in August for most of the seats. However, there is still uncertainty surrounding the candidates for four seats. Several factors are contributing to the delay in the BRS announcing its candidates for these seats. Here’s the current status of those four seats:

Jangaon Seat: The BRS has yet to determine its candidate for this seat. This delay is primarily due to efforts to replace the incumbent MLA, Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy, in response to concerns about anti-incumbency. As a gesture, they’ve appointed him as the chairman of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) and are encouraging MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy to campaign in the constituency. The Congress has not announced its candidate, while the BJP has put forward Arutla Dashmanth Reddy.

Nampally Seat: The BRS is awaiting its ally AIMIM to declare its candidate. AIMIM is seeking to replace the current MLA, Jaffer Hussain Meraj, with a younger contender. The Congress has chosen Feroz Khan, who has previously lost in elections but stands a better chance this time. The BRS might field a strong candidate if AIMIM’s choice doesn’t prove formidable. The BJP has not revealed its candidate yet. Goshamahal seat: The BRS initially waited for the BJP to name its candidate, as sitting MLA T Raja Singh had faced suspension by the BJP but was later reinstated. The BRS is now contemplating Nanda Kishore Vyas for this seat. The Congress has nominated Mogili Sunitha, while the BJP’s candidate remains undisclosed.

Narsapur seat: The BRS has chosen Telangana State Women Commission chairperson Sunitha Laxma Reddy over the incumbent MLA, Madan Reddy. This decision is partly driven by the party’s objective to boost women’s representation. The Congress has not revealed its candidate, and Erragolla Murali Yadav will be the BJP’s candidate. Senior Minister T Harish Rao has stated that the BRS will announce its candidates for all four constituencies in the near future.

Furthermore, the BRS is set to nominate Marri Rajashekar Reddy for Malkajgiri, where the incumbent party MLA has switched to the Congress, and Rajashekar Reddy has already initiated his campaign for the seat.

BRS has yet to finalize its candidates for four Assembly seats in Telangana, with delays stemming from various factors such as internal party dynamics and the need to await the decisions of other political parties. However, the BRS is expected to announce its candidates for these seats soon.
