Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain has prohibited the unauthorized sale and supply of Industrial Spirit and Methanol in the district to avert any tragedy by consuming spurious liquor. Holding a meeting of Licensees of Industrial Summit, Methanol and newly allocated liquor vends and representatives of distilleries, breweries and bottling plants of the district at District Administrative Complex, SAS Nagar, Mohali, the Deputy Commissioner said that all the stakeholders should keep in mind that the sale, supply and stock of all these is under lens and nobody would be spared if found guilty.

She cautioned the stakeholders to keep track of their supplies regularly so that diversions or pilferage could not happen on the way. She emphasized that the District Administration is committed to conducting free, fair and transparent elections.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that a joint checking team headed by SDMs and comprised of Tehsildars, Excise/GST officials, SHOs and the Industry Department would be constituted to do random inspections of the stock, sale and supply.

Directing the new licensees of Vends in the district, she said that they should give prior permission for transporting liquor besides names of the persons assigned with the dusty of collecting cash from the liquor shops.

The Deputy Commissioner said that anyone who was found violating Model Code of Conduct would be dealt with strongly. She insisted upon the installation of IP enabled CCTV cameras on liquor vends also to keep the close monitoring of these.

The officers who attend the meeting included ADC (G) Viraj S Tidke, SP (Traffic and Industrial Security) H S Mann, Assistance Commissioner Excise Ashok Chalhotra, Assistant Commissioner State Tax Munish Nayar and DSP (D) Rajesh Hastir.
