JBT exam results delayed, teachers in Shimla raise concern

The Junior Basic Training (JBT) exam results delay has alarmed the Shimla Elementary Trained Teachers Association, which has demanded that appointments be made as quickly as possible for the JBT batch openings.

According to a press statement from Reena Thakur, Executive President of the Elementary Trained Teachers Association in Shimla, “The JBT examinations were held in November 2023, but candidates are anxious since the results have been delayed for the past months.”

“Even after three months, the government and the education department have been unable to declare the result of the JBT exams. Therefore, the Elementary Trained Teachers Association has raised the demand to make appointments for the JBT batch vacancies,” said the press statement.

According to the Elementary Teachers Association, there are currently over 4,000 vacancies at JBT, which hurts pupils’ academic performance.
In a news release, Reena Thakur, the Executive President of the Elementary Trained Teachers Association, stated that JBT interviews were conducted in November to fill approximately 1,161 teaching positions; however, three months later, no appointments had been made.

Thakur went on to say that it is unfair and illogical to keep the JBT exam results for so long when the candidates are anxiously awaiting them.
Additionally, the applicants have voiced their displeasure with the prolonged wait for the JBT results, claimed that their patience is running out, and asked that the state government and the education department make a decision about the exam results as soon as possible.

JBT stands for Junior Basic Training. JBT is an Indian teacher training program that offers pre-service training to people who want to work as primary school teachers.
The curriculum equips participants with the abilities and information needed to instruct young pupils.
