Two individuals lost their lives in separate incidents of wild elephant attacks in Telangana’s Kumuram Bheem (KB) Asifabad district within a span of less than 24 hours, officials reported on Thursday.

According to the police, the first incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when a wild elephant entered an agricultural field in Chintala Manepally, Kouthala Mandal, and killed a person. The second incident took place on Thursday morning in Penchikalpet Mandal, where another person was fatally attacked by the tusker.

Confirming the fatalities, Inspector Sadik Pasha from Kouthala Police stated, “The forest department officials are searching for the elephant.”

Efforts are being made by forest department officials to locate the tusker, and the areas have been cordoned off to prevent the wild elephant from entering the village.  In a separate incident on April 1, a man was killed in a wild elephant attack in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district, according to an official statement.

The deceased was identified as Kodilil Biju (56), a resident of Thulapally, Pathanamthitta. The victim encountered the elephant while it was reportedly overturning a coconut tree.
