The two-day multidisciplinary international conference organized by the Physical Education Department under the joint aegis of Government College Sector 1 and the Higher Education Department concluded on Friday. Vice President of Haryana Academy of Literaature and Culture and current Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh Central University, Dharamshala,a Prof. Kuldeep Chandra Agnihotri, was the chief guest in the concluding session. The philosophy of sports in India believes in taking everyone along rather than defeating others. To truly make the country a world leader, there is a need to set its own standards in sports, philosophy, and other fields instead of copying other countries.
College Principal Yashpal Singh welcomed the chief guest and congratulated all the staff and students of the college for the successful organization of the conference. Successful entrepreneur and social worker Ved Prakash Garg was the special guest of the function. Garg emphasized the great importance of sports in life, stating that sports give a new direction to life. He added that being mentally and physically healthy is almost impossible without sports.
Arjun Sports Award winner Dalel Singh Chauhan, Rajkumar Sangwan, and Dronacharya Award winner Sunil Dabas, who participated in the program, were honored by wearing turbans. Dalel Singh encouraged sports students to always keep sports with them, while Rajkumar Sangwan discussed the immense career possibilities in the sports world. Speaking on the scientific aspect of sports, Dr. Sunil Dabas emphasized the increasing level of research in sports and advised sports students to practice values honestly while avoiding prohibited products and doping.
International gymnastics player Meenakshi, who was a college student, was also honored. Certificates were distributed by the Chief Guest to the participants attending the seminar. Seminar convener Dr. Ram Mehar Singh Khatkar presented a detailed report of the two-day seminar, thanking the department’s team, including Dr. Vijay Kumar, Prof. Pratap, and Prof. Praveen Dhandha.
The stage was conducted by Dr. Anil Kumar Pandey. It may be noted that in this international seminar, more than 500 people from across the country, including Canada, England, Australia, Bangladesh, and Iran, presented research papers. T-shirts were also distributed as gifts to the participants on behalf of Amertex CMD Arun Grover.
