Two arrested for deceptive ATM assistance, multiple cheating cases detected

The Kurar police apprehended two individuals, Pradyum Yadav (24) and Vivek Pandey (23), for defrauding bank customers at ATMs. The duo engaged in swapping customers’ debit cards with expired ones, subsequently making unauthorized withdrawals from their bank accounts. With a record of 16 other cheating cases, Yadav and Pandey, both laborers, were found in possession of 117 ATM cards. The recent incidents occurred in the Malad-Goregaon area on December 3.
In the first case, a teenager seeking to withdraw Rs 30,000 received assistance from one of the accused, who manipulated the machine. Despite the teenager’s failure to access the money, the perpetrator managed to pocket it. In the second case, a 27-year-old man, attempting to withdraw money at an ATM in Kurar village, fell victim to the accused’s offer of help.
