After the famous deal between Twitter and the business mogul Elon Musk, millions have been bidding bye to the platform as 1.3 million users’ accounts went missing by Nov. 1.

Once Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion, millions of users decided to leave the platform for what they believed was best.

The firm Bot Sentinel discovered that roughly 877,000 accounts were deactivated by the users themselves and another 497,000 were suspended during the particular time period, which was between October 27 and November 1.

They looked at the actions of more than 3 million Twitter accounts to figure out how Twitter works.

The information was passed on by the Bot Sentinel founder, Christopher Bouzy, who told the outlet that the number of accounts being deactivated and suspended was continuously going up.

Hen further added that he, along with the Bot Sentinel team, estimated the number of accounts by considering the proportion of users they analyze who either deactivated or got suspended by Twitter ( as part of the regular bot checking) after Musk took over the social media platform, and they went to apply the percentage to Twitter’s entire number of users, which is nearly 237 million accounts, that were capable of monetizing.

According to Bouzy, if users continue to deactivate, it will turn out to be a significant problem in the long run. He went on to say that if the marginalized or the left-leaning leave the social platform, Twitter will have nothing to differentiate itself from Truth Social or Parler.

Last Monday, Musk gained tabloid traction when he tweeted sarcastically that Twitter usage was at its highest, “LOL.” Later, he was seen replying to his own tweet, “I hope the servers do not melt.”

Supporting what the Bot Sentinel announced, the MIT Technology Review report said that during the first week after the Twitter purchase, many deactivated their own accounts and some others got suspended, which was found after strict monitoring was conducted by the team.

The accounts suspended were the result of Twitter’s routine removal of fake accounts, which is usually done for reasons including violation of Twitter rules and regulations, inactivity, or inauthenticity.

Even before the purchase, Twitter reportedly lost nearly 6,000 users, suggesting more than 200% account losses in the following days. Apparently, users were eager to make their accounts disappear from the site. Former President Barack Obama, who was the most followed person on Twitter according to LifeStyleUG’s list, has lost nearly 300,000 followers.

Bouzy also said that the rise in people leaving Twitter was a protest against Elon Musk’s plan to buy the service.

Musk offered to purchase the social media company last April, as he believed Twitter was in utmost need of a transformation, and was on his way to unlocking the extraordinary potential it had.

After a long time, he finally purchased Twitter on Oct. 27, which apparently resulted in a huge loss. Musk went a long way behind many legal wranglings without anticipating things would turn gray after the purchase. Ever since Musk stepped in, he fired a large number of employees, and further admitted that advertisers were fleeing the platform.

According to a separate study conducted by the Network Contagion Research Institute, the use of the N-word increased by roughly 500% following Musk’s entry. Savvas Zannettou, a professor at Delft University, has hinted that it was the beginning of a larger problem on Twitter.

If that is anything to go by, then Twitter and Musk will sink in no time. Indeed, they have also suggested expecting further challenges like additional losses of followers and so on.

Moreover, the company also professed that its unique verification system was about to become a service that will be available to anyone who is ready to make a subscription.

Twitter recently made an update exclusively for iOS, where it was mentioned that Twitter Blue would become available for $7.99 a month, where the user will get a blue tick as well as reduced ads. Additionally, subscribers will also be able to post longer clips.

It is expected to take a long time for Twitter to get back on track, no matter what changes or updates they bring.

Very recently, fake accounts were spotted with blue ticks, pretending to be someone else. Users have been tricking each other, and they have openly challenged Twitter to find them. Today, Twitter is in a position where it will have to undergo many challenges.
