Demolition of the Noida Twin Towers: Due to Supertech’s illegal construction of the 100-meter tall twin towers in Noida, they will be destroyed within the next few hours. Officials from Edifice Engineering, the business that was awarded the contract to complete the work, are scheduled to begin demolishing the Noida twin towers at 2:30 pm on Sunday, August 28. The two towers, Apex and Ceyanne, will be destroyed in the span of nine seconds, carrying with them a nine-year war won by inhabitants who fought for their rights.

Real estate company Supertech Ltd. received a block of land in Sector 93A from the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) in November 2004 for the development of a housing society that would later become known as the Emerald Court.

2005: In accordance with the New Okhla Industrial Development Area Building Regulations and Directions, 1986, the building plan was approved this year. With this, the developer is given authority to build a total of 14 buildings, each with ten stories, all of which must be no taller than 37 metres.

Supertech received additional land granted for building in June 2006 under the same terms.

The plan was updated yet again in November 2009 to add two more towers to the society. The twin skyscrapers Apex and Ceyanne, which will have 24 storeys each, are starting to take shape.

March 2012: As opposed to the initial idea, Apex and Ceyanne now each have 40 stories total. According to Supertech, this was in accordance with the 2010 Noida construction requirements.

The Emerald Court Owners Residents Welfare Association petitioned the Allahabad High Court in December 2012. The UP Apartment Owners Act of 2010 requires that homebuyers be penalised for any alterations to the plan, which the association’s members contend the buildings violated. The members also claim that a garden-designated space in the original brochure was gradually encroached upon by the twin towers. The homeowners further claim to the courts that the buildings were built with fewer than 16 metres between them, which is another infraction of the law.

The Allahabad High Court ordered the twin skyscrapers in Noida to be demolished in April 2014. Additionally, it demands that Supertech charge the homebuyers’ money back with a 14% interest rate. The court further notes that Supertech and Noida Authority personnel worked together to build the tower. Now that the two towers are sealed,

The Supreme Court affirms the 2014 judgement and rejects Supertech’s appeal on August 31, 2021. Within three months, the twin skyscrapers will be razed. Deconstruction has nevertheless been postponed for over a year.

Authorities in Noida informed SC in February 2022 that demolition work had started and was anticipated to be finished by May 22.

August 28 is the new date set by SC to demolish the Supertech Twin buildings as of May 17, 2022.

August 12: SC once more grants a deadline extension, this time until September 4. The Noida twin buildings, according to demolition firm Edifice Engineering, will be destroyed on August 28.
