TV actors share financial woes on social media, help pours in

With no signs of relief from Covid-19, which has put all the film and TV shoots to an indefinite halt, TV actors are now taking on social media and are asking for financial help due to no work. The actors are facing a series of troubles including payment of rents, health issues, daily needs, etc. In the meantime, several celebrities and Producers Guild of India have set up a relief fund to help the actors and the daily wage workers.

Begusarai actor Rajesh Kapoor recently posted a video on Facebook in which he was seen pleading for financial help. The video took social media by storm and a lot of people from the industry came forward to help him. Actress and his co-star Shivangi Joshi helped him with Rs 10,000. Few days later, the actor posted another video in which he thanked people for helping him.

 Similarly, actor Ashiesh Roy too shared his financial woes on Facebook and asked people to help him to manage his medical bills. He has been suffering from kidney problems and was recently discharged from a hospital as he could not afford the bills. The actor cannot undergo a kidney transplant for at least six months due to high risk of Covid-19 infection and has to spend a huge amount on dialysis. The actor has worked in popular TV shows like Sasrural Simar Ka, Jeannie and Juju and Kuch Pyar Ke Rang Aise Bhi.He has received financial support from several members of the industry including Hansal Mehta, Luv Ranjan, Vijay Krishna Acharya and Habib Faisal.

Swaragini and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam doon…Ek Baar Phir fame actress Nupur Alankar is also under financial distress as her money is stuck in the scam-hit Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank. With her mother needing hospitalisation, she is in urgent need of funds. Nupur does not have enough money to pay rent and take care of medical needs. Actress Renuka Shahane, a close friend of Nupur, made a plea for monetary help on her behalf by sharing her bank details on social media and urging everyone to donate.

In a Facebook post, Shahane wrote, “A very dear actress friend of mine, Nupur Alankar has been facing a lot of financial problems due to all her money unfortunately being stuck in the PMC bank which crashed leaving their customers in the lurch.” Responding to her gesture, Nupur commented on her post and thanked her.

Actress Sonal Vengurlekar in a long emotional post shared her ordeals too. She is also dealing with financial troubles as one of the producers has not paid her dues yet. However, her makeup man Pankaj Gupta offered to help her with Rs 15,000 despite his own wife being pregnant. Vengurlekar has worked in many popular shows like Shastri Sisters, Yeh Vaada Raha, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Laal Ishq, among others.
