Due to necessary maintenance work, the water supply will be interrupted in various areas of the national capital from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning. The water supply for the regions on the list will either not be accessible or will only be provided at low pressure during that time, the Delhi Jal Board stated in a release.

Due to interconnection of loop line laid by DMRC from Bhagirathi WTP to Gokulpuri Fly Over with 1200 mm dia Tahirpur main, the water supply of following colonies/areas will not be available or will be available at low pressure in the evening of 13.09.2022 and morning of 14.09.2022,” the release said.

The government agency recommended locals in these locations stockpile enough water in advance to meet their needs. According to the water supply agency, water tankers would be provided upon request in the impacted districts.

North East Delhi, Sonia Vihar, Karawal Nagar, Tahirpur, Dilshad Garden, Nand Nagari, Yamuna Vihar, Shiv Vihar, Ghonda, Harsh Vihar, Janta Flats, Dilshad Colony, Seemapuri, and other localities would all be impacted by the maintenance work.

According to officials, the monitoring of the water situation will continue throughout the time period, and in the event of an emergency, residents can call the appropriate authorities at the central control centre at 011-23527679 or 23634469.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, had asked Haryana in June to discharge more water into the Yamuna for humanitarian reasons. The DJB only provides about 950 MGD of the 1,200 MGD (million gallons per day) of water that Delhi needs.
