After the firestorm caused by a viral email, Noida-based company YesMadam responded to controversy over its alleged termination of over 100 employees who reportedly admitted to being stressed out at work. The provider of home salon and spa services took to LinkedIn fora three-page detailed statement titled “Important Update,” in response to the controversy.
Company Denies Firing Employees
The statement by YesMadam clarified that the employees were not dismissed because they appeared to be stressed. “No one was fired at YesMadam!” the company stated in the statement. It regretted the distress brought about by the viral email and assured the public it would never take such an “inhumane step.”

YesMadam explained that the controversial email was part of a planned campaign aimed at initiating a conversation around workplace stress. “We sincerely apologise for any distress caused by recent social media posts suggesting we dismissed employees for being stressed,” the statement continued.
Campaign to Address Workplace Stress
The company said it wanted to initiate a discussion on the growing issue of workplace stress and its impact on employees’ well-being. “We are grateful to those who voiced strong opinions and angry comments—it shows that people care, and care is at the heart of our business,”YesMadam added.
No Layoffs—Employees Given Time to Reset
YesMadam clarified that no employees were terminated for their stress levels. The company instead claimed that it provided employees with a break to recharge, reset, and relieve stress. The statement also introduced the company‘s new “de-stress“ policy, designed to support employee mental health.
New De-Stress Policy to Support Employee Well-being
As part of its care for the well-being of its employees, YesMadam has introduced a new policy in which every employee is given six paid annual leaves for mental rejuvenation. On top of that, free at-home spa sessions will be offered to employees for further enhancement of well-being.
The company concluded that “YesMadam believes that the backbone of any successful organization is not built on stressed shoulders but on happy minds.“ It thus appealed to the corporate as well as the startup sector of India to join the ranks in making a culture at work, which emphasises employee care and compassion.
The statement by YesMadam aims to lay this controversy to rest while reinforcing its commitment to maintaining a supportive and caring work environment for employees.
