Swiggy Instamart’s ‘Underweight’ Vegetables To Customer Sparks Outrage

A recent customer complaint has raised questions about the integrity of Swiggy Instamart’s delivery service. The customer, who ordered vegetables through the app, discovered that several items were underweight, sparking accusations of dishonesty and unfair business practices.

The Customer’s Shocking Discovery

While placing an order for vegetables, the customer was taken aback upon receiving a cauliflower that weighed only 145 grams, despite being listed on the Swiggy Instamart app as weighing between 400 to 600 grams. In a post shared on Reddit, the customer expressed his frustration, stating that the cauliflower incident prompted him to weigh the other vegetables in his order. He was shocked to find that nearly all items were underweight.

A Discrepancy Across the Order

Further examination of the order revealed more inconsistencies. The customer had ordered 1 kg of potatoes but received only 965 grams. Additionally, the capsicum that was supposed to weigh 250 grams came in at just 170 grams. In total, the customer received only 1.2 kg of vegetables, even though he had paid for 1.8 kg. This prompted the customer to label the incident a “scam” on Reddit, citing the discrepancies in the weight of the vegetables as a deliberate attempt to deceive buyers.

Customer Support’s Lackluster Response

When the customer reached out to Swiggy Instamart’s customer service to report the issue, the response he received was far from satisfactory. He provided clear evidence of the weight discrepancies through photos of his weighing scale, requesting a full refund or a replacement. However, Swiggy’s customer support offered only ₹89 as compensation, far less than the ₹177 he had paid for the order.

Despite attempts to escalate the issue, the customer claims that other representatives from Swiggy Instamart also provided partial refunds, without addressing the issue of the underweight vegetables comprehensively.

The Ongoing Dispute

This case has drawn attention to possible flaws in Swiggy Instamart’s quality control and customer service processes. While the company has yet to issue an official statement, the incident has raised doubts about the app’s reliability in providing accurate product information and maintaining fair practices. Customers are now questioning whether similar incidents are occurring across the platform and what steps Swiggy will take to resolve the matter.

As the customer continues to express dissatisfaction over the handling of his complaint, this story serves as a reminder for online grocery services to maintain transparency and customer trust, particularly when it comes to product quality and accurate weight measurements.
