The oil tanker operators at Jalandhar’s Indian Oil Terminal have announced an end to the strike after a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and SSP. The strike by truck drivers against the new ‘hit and run’ laws has caused heavy crowds at petrol pumps in Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. The belief that the strike is depleting fuel at petrol pumps has led to long queues as people rush to refuel their vehicles. The bus services in Punjab have also been affected. Reports indicate lengthy lines at petrol pumps in Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Patiala, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Bathinda, and other districts of Punjab.”
