In Vadodara, the BJP is pushing hard to win the municipal elections. As part of the party’s recruitment drive, new workers from other parties are being added. A programme was organised on Wednesday to include the transgender community of Vadodara in the BJP. At the programme, more than 50 transgenders, along with Rajpipla’s Prince Manvendrasinh Gohil, joined the BJP and filled the form for the formation of the page committee.
Although the transgender community has received legal recognition, they have not yet been given a place in society. The transgender society is also not active in the political sphere. Leaders of this society also need to come forward as people’s representatives and make efforts to get the right place.
Today Vadodara city BJP president Dr Vijay Shah invited several transgenders from Vadodara to join the BJP in the presence of transgender community leader and Rajpipla Prince Manvendrasinh Gohil. More than 50 people from the transgender community wore BJP scarves and filled out page committee forms.
After pursuing a career in politics and gaining legal status, he joined the BJP as an active activist in an effort to ensure that the third community has the same status as men and women. All transgender people wore BJP scarves and formally got a place as BJP workers.
“Today, our community has joined the BJP and many more will join in the days to come,” said Rajpipla Prince Manvendrasinh Gohil. “The BJP has done well for our community and transgender people also have the right to contest elections and will contest elections in the coming days.”
“I am very happy to join the BJP,” said transgender Manvi Vaishnav. I thank the BJP leaders. I am ready for it if I get a chance to contest.”
