Tragedy struck the Janipur area of Jammu as a young man lost his life in a collision involving a government official’s vehicle. The incident, which occurred on February 7, saw a fast-moving vehicle belonging to a Block Development Officer (BDO) collide with 26-year-old Rajat Bhola, who was riding a scooter on his way home. The impact proved fatal, resulting in the immediate demise of the young mechanic.
Prompt police action followed, with law enforcement swiftly apprehending the driver of the vehicle. A case has been registered at the Janipur Police Station, marking the beginning of investigations into the harrowing incident.
Eyewitnesses recount the horrific event, describing how the vehicle, conspicuously marked with a ‘J&K Government’ insignia, collided with Bhola, leaving a community in shock and grief. Subsequent scrutiny revealed that the vehicle involved had been previously flagged on the Government’s Privahan App, bearing the designation “Not To Be Transacted (NTBT)” by the Jammu Regional Transport Office (RTO).
Further investigations revealed that the driver responsible for the fatal collision was identified as Kuldeep Kumar, hailing from Kishtwar district in Jammu. Kumar, employed as a private driver for the BDO, was operating the vehicle bearing registration number JK02CM-0018 at the time of the incident. The collision, captured on nearby CCTV footage, occurred in the Sector 02 area of Roop Nagar late at night, adding to the gravity of the situation.
Police officials, while confirming Kumar’s arrest, reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice for the victim and his grieving family.
