In a joint initiative, Chandigarh Traffic Police and Lions Club Chandigarh Central organized a special drive at Labour Chowk, Sector 44, Chandigarh, focusing on affixing reflective tapes/reflectors to bicycles. The campaign aims to enhance visibility during night hours, particularly in the foggy season.
Approximately 750 reflective tapes/reflectors were affixed to around 400 bicycles during the event. Yellow reflective tapes were applied to both wheels, while red tapes were placed on the rear of the bicycles. The event saw the presence of Jaswinder Singh, DSP/Traffic (R&D), along with members of the Road Safety Awareness Cell of Chandigarh Traffic Police, Lion Satish Bhaskar (Chairman District), Lion Sanjeev Sethi (President), Lion Sanjeev Gupta (Club Administrator) of Lions Club Chandigarh Central, and Sh. Ram Lal (President of Construction Worker Labour Union Sector 44).
In addition to the bicycle safety drive, the Road Safety Awareness Cell of Chandigarh Traffic Police organized a road safety awareness program at S.D. School, Sector 32, Chandigarh. The initiative aimed to educate students on various traffic rules and regulations. The event witnessed the participation of 40 NSS students, and approximately 120 road safety pamphlets were distributed.
Chandigarh Traffic Police extends an appeal to cyclists, cycle rickshaw pullers to utilize slow carriageways/cycle tracks for their safety. Moreover, students are urged to adhere to traffic rules and regulations for a safer road environment.
