When the governor arrived for his usual speech on Monday at the opening session, a dispute broke out in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. Before staging a walkout from the Assembly, members of the ruling DMK and its allies, the Congress and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), began yelling anti-Governor chants. Don’t impose BJP and RSS doctrine, some DMK MLAs shouted.

In the midst of the controversy surrounding Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi’s suggestion that the state should be called Tamizhagam rather than Tamil Nadu, posters with the hashtag #GetoutRavi have appeared in the Valluvar Kottam and Anna Salai regions of West Chennai. Members of the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) are protesting in Coimbatore and calling for Governor RN Ravi to be fired from his position by the Centre after a controversy erupted over his Tamizhagam remark on Monday due to Ravi’s alleged skipping of some of his speech in the Assembly. Also spotted were protesters yelling slogans and burning his effigy.

While all of this is going on, CPI(M) MP Su Venkatesan tweeted that he is listed as the Governor of Tamilzagam on the invitation from the Governor’s House for the Pongal celebration.
