Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin conducted a review meeting at the Chennai secretariat to address the recent incidents of illicit liquor-related deaths in Villupuram and Chengalpattu districts.
The meeting, held on Wednesday, involved senior officials from the Police Department and Prohibition Enforcement Department. The discussions centered around implementing measures to combat smuggling activities in the state. During the meeting, Chief Minister Stalin highlighted the toll-free number 10581 for reporting liquor prohibition violations at the state level.
He also shared the contact details of Assistant Superintendents of Police, Deputy Superintendents of Police, and the Additional Director of Police (Prohibition Enforcement) in each district to facilitate complaint handling. The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure prompt follow-up actions and submit a weekly report to the Chief Minister’s office via the Home Secretary.
Additionally, he emphasized the need for district-level coordination meetings every Monday, involving the district administration, police department, revenue department officials, and the Tamil Nadu State Commerce Corporation (Tasmac) district manager, to address the issue of counterfeiting and narcotic drugs. The Chief Secretary was tasked with providing appropriate instructions to the district administration heads in this regard.
