The Forest Department caught an injured leopard on Saturday after it was spotted roaming in the residential area for five consecutive days.

The leopard, which had been spotted with leg injuries in the Devan Estate Anju Temple vicinity near Dewar Oasis in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris district, was successfully captured in a cage placed by the Department.

Local residents of Gudalur, neighboring the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve and Kerala forest area, had alerted authorities about the leopard’s presence in the area for five consecutive days, prompting the Forest Department to set up two cages at their request.

Forest officials then located and trapped the leopard after extensive efforts.
