More than 90 jail officials in the city were relocated, according to officials, days after mobster Tillu Tajpuriya was allegedly murdered inside Tihar Jail by members of a rival gang.
According to an officer, Director General (Prisons) Sanjay Beniwal ordered the transfer of 99 employees, including assistant superintendents, deputy superintendents, head warders, and warders. He also warned that other transfers from the jail’s administrative offices may occur in the coming days.
A top official claims that the Tajpuriya murder was taken seriously by the authorities, which led to a simplification of procedures and the requirement for reforms at the ground level.
