Reshma Sebastian, a well-known fashion influencer from Kerala, addressed her Instagram followers on Sunday to clarify that she is not Smriti Singh, the widow of Captain Anshuman Singh. Earlier this month, Captain Singh was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra.
Sebastian has been mistakenly identified as Smriti Singh by some internet users, leading to severe trolling over her fashion posts.
In her post, Sebastian stated, “This is not Smriti Singh’s (widow of Indian Army soldier Capt Anshuman Singh) page/ig account. Read the profile details and bio first. Please refrain from spreading false information and hate comments.”
She also shared a screenshot of a man’s Facebook post using her photo to troll the Army officer’s wife, expressing her frustration: “This is absurd! Using my identity to spread false information about Smriti Singh. We are going ahead with legal actions.” She urged her followers to report any further instances of her photos being misused.
Reshma Sebastian, who resides in Germany with her husband and daughter, is currently visiting Kerala.
Captain Anshuman Singh was honored posthumously with the Kirti Chakra, India’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award, by President Droupadi Murmu on July 5 during an investiture ceremony. He sacrificed his life last July while rescuing people from a significant fire. The award was accepted by his wife, Smriti Singh, and his mother, Manju Singh.
