Delhi based contemporary artist, Shubhra Das, known for her intricate expression of Nature’s myriad aspects through her art, like the creation, the nurturing, preserving, and sharing, & more. Exploring yet another beautiful aspect in her latest artwork series titled, “The Overlapping Embraces”, Shubhra delves upon the interconnectedness of human emotions & visual forms capturing the organic beauty of nature. Her understanding & expression is not only limited to the Indian perspective but transcending boundaries, globally. The subtle mix of classical with contemporary creates relatable visual depictions with completely new, non-recognizable forms.

Two of her artworks from the series are being showcased at the ongoing Rome Art Week (RAW) 2023 from Oct 24th-28th, 2023. The artworks are part of the group showcase “So Close So Far”, by Rossocinabro Gallery, Rome, Italy.

In India, the artworks will be part of group art show DHOOP in Chandigarh by 105arts from Nov 3rd till 10th, 2023.

“The underlying thought in my works emphasizes and symbolizes nature’s tremendous power to create and nurture. I see myself as a being who is cocooned by nature. The flowing forms epitomize my thoughts on nature being the protective cradle where life, numerous in numbers, has an existence that is overlapping. Being the source of all creation and the giver; for me Nature is highly revered.

Nature and all the myriad elements are intertwined in my work. I see so much mystery in these overlapping. This makes me curious to know the many connections and parallel existences of so many beings. Through my art, I research ideas of co-existence, evolution, and connections and how beings can support each other, inspiring & strengthening collective growth. My art becomes a portrayal of the sequence of thoughts. The connection I perceive physiologically has emotional and subconscious dimensions, too”, says the artist on her latest artwork series.

“Shubhra Das, the Indian contemporary artist, is a visionary whose works transcend conventional artistic boundaries. Her art is a captivating blend of heartfelt feelings, geometric precision, and the organic beauty of nature. With each stroke of her brush, she skillfully weaves together human emotions and visual forms, creating a mesmerizing tapestry of expression”, says Mehak Bhan Curator & Gallerist, 105 Arts, Chandigarh.

“One of the defining features of her art is her profound love for nature, which serves both as the source of inspiration and the ultimate benefactor of her creations. Her paintings often serve as a visual ode to the natural world, reflecting its intricate patterns and vibrant colours. Through her work, she reminds us of our intrinsic connection to the environment, inviting viewers to contemplate the delicate balance between humanity and the Earth.

Shubhra’s artistic journey is a testament to her ability to capture the essence of fleeting emotions and translate them into timeless visual compositions. Her art not only appeals to the senses but also sparks a deeper connection to the world around us, making her a truly exceptional contemporary artist in the Indian art scene”, Bhan adds.
