British ultra-luxury high-performance sportscar manufacturer, Aston Martin, has launched a brand new set of wheels in the Indian market. The Aston Martin DB 12 Coupe is claimed to be the first Super Tourer in the world and is priced at Rs 4.59 crore, ex-showroom excluding customization options. The brand is promising a scintillating driving experience with exceptional refinement along with state-of-the-art technology and indulgent luxury the car.
The DB 12 is the first of Aston Martin’s highly anticipated next generation of sportscars, and in a way represents the zenith of 75 years of brand’s DB bloodline which includes some iconic James Bond cars. This model, according to the company, positions it as a modern ultra-luxury, high performance brand, with timeless design combined with the latest technology, indulgent craftsmanship and the most thrilling driving experience. Aston Martin claims the DB12 is the most complete and accomplished DB model in brand’s history.
Progression is also reflected in DB12’s styling, with an all-new front-end treatment, wider stance and more muscular surfaces. The car gets a two door body style with 2+2 seating, extruded bonded aluminum body structure with composite panels and a deployable spoiler with Aston Martin aeroblade system. It runs on 21-inch wheels and gets a carbon ceramic braking system. It gets a Wheelbase of 2,805 mm along with a Ground Clearance of 120 mm. The car also has a completely redesigned interior that has clean lines emphasizing the sense of space. It also provides a contemporary backdrop for the first application of Aston Martin’s bespoke, state-of-the-art infotainment system which has been designed and developed in-house. It comes with a Bowers & Wilkins Audio system.
The car is being billed as the world’s first Super Tourer, as it elevates itself beyond the current GT automotive segment, creating a new category. This is justified by its sheer numbers as the car reaches a top speed of 325 kmphand does a 0-100 kmph time of 3.5 seconds. The 4.0 Twin-Turbo V8 engine on the sportscar makes a whopping 670 bhp and 800 Nm of peak torque. Power is fed through an 8-speed automatic transmission and for the first time on an Aston Martin DB model, Electronic Rear Differential has been provided. The result, according to thecompany is an energised sportscar thatdelivers a superior driving experience that’s second to none.
Talking about suspension, the car gets and independent double wishbone on the front and Multi-link unit on the rear. For a more comfortable ride it also has an Adaptive Damping System (ADS) with skyhook technology & intelligent adaptive dampers. Then there are five selectable drive modes: Wet, GT, Sport, Sports Plus and Individual which alter the character of drivetrain, steering and chassis. The sportscar also gets many Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). These include forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, auto high beam, traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, door open assist, rear cross traffic assist, driver drowsiness detection and a 360˚ 3d surround camera view.
