Mercedes-Benz has launched the most powerful production vehicle ever by Mercedes-AMG, the GT 63 S E Performance in the Indian market. Mercedes-AMG is the performance arm of the German Luxury carmaker, and this is the latest addition of fast-expanding AMG portfolio in India, which consists of hatchbacks, sedans, pure electrics as well as SUVs. The car is also the first performance hybrid from the brand in India and is priced at a whopping Rs 3.30 crore (all India ex-showroom). According to the brand, all Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance customers will get the key handover from Lewis Hamilton, multiple Formula 1 World champion. Mercedes says this car highlights the consistent technology transfer from motorsport to its production cars. While superior performance and impressive driving dynamics is something that is expected from the car, the hybrid drivetrain also promises a decent number when it comes to fuel efficiency. The claimed number here is 7.9 litres/100 km, while the while pure electric range on the car is 13 km for which you get a 6.1 kWh battery pack.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance features 4.0-litre V8 engine with twin turbochargers. The combination of this engine and electric motor generates a system output of 620 kW (843 hp) and a maximum system torque of more than 1,470 Nm. You get around 200 bhp of power and 320 Nm just at the rear axle. Mercedes says the electric drive’s immediate response at the rear axle, rapid torque build-up, and improved weight distribution makes for a new, highly dynamic driving experience. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 316 kmph which is electronically limited.

In all, the car comes with seven AMG Dynamic Select drive modes which ensure everything from high fuel efficiency to superior dynamics. The driver can also choose between four different recuperation modes on the right-hand AMG steering-wheel button. The car also provides you with a fully electric driving mode for the first time.
Apart from this you can also toggle the sound experience between ‘balanced’ and ‘powerful’ using the sound buttons in the central console or on the steering wheel. There’s also AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive with fully variable torque distribution and Drift Mode.
Ultra-light lithium-ion battery inspired by technologies that have already proven themselves under the toughest conditions in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team’s Formula 1 hybrid racing cars, according to the carmaker. Mercedes-Benz also manufactures three AMG models in India. These include the AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe, the AMG A 35 4MATIC+ saloon and the AMG GLA 35 4MATIC+ SUV. The EQS AMG is a pure electric luxury sports sedan which the brand sells in India.
