Thane police filed an FIR against a 23-year-old woman for allegedly using forged documents to get a passport in order to go to Pakistan. According to police sources, the woman went to Pakistan along with her daughter by using a fake passport and visa obtained with the help of forged documents. Now, Vartak Nagar Police have booked her under the Indian Passport Act and all other associated acts and are probing an unidentified person who is suspected to have assisted her in making the forged documents. ANI, news agency reported.

The main accused, identified as Nagma Noor Maqsood Ali or Sanam Khan, used a spurious Aadhar card, PAN card, and birth certificate of her minor daughter to get her passport. An official from Vartak Nagar Police Station confirmed that these documents were used in her passport application. It is reported that Khan traveled to Pakistan to meet a boyfriend she connected with online. Following their meeting on Facebook, Khan went from Thane to Pakistan and married her boyfriend in Abbottabad.

It was based on these forged documents that Sanam Khan hauled her passport and visa and only stayed in Pakistan for about a month and a half before returning to India. Offense believed to have taken place between May 2023 and 2024. Khan has been placed under arrest; investigation is still underway.

Authorities suspect that some unknown aide may have helped her procure the forged documents for her travel. The case came to light when she returned to India, after which police swung into action. The police will investigate the reasons for her trip, the person who assisted her and the motives behind her actions, according to a Vartak Nagar Police Station official.

He said that Khan changed her identity to get the vital documents, including the Aadhaar card, PAN card, and birth certificate of her daughter, from any centre in Lokmanya Nagar. These forged documents have been used in her application for a passport.

Khan’s husband, who was earlier identified as Maqsood Ali, is also being probed into, as little information is available about him, ANI reported. Sanam Khan, in her initial statement to the Thane Police, said that she became friends with a person online, and then decided to go to Pakistan.

She could obtain a passport and visa for Pakistan with the fake credentials, the officer confirmed. Sources revealed that the fraudulent acts had been committed between May 2023 and July 2024. Both Nagma Ali and her associate have serious charges slapped against them under the Indian Passport Act, thus bringing forth the gravity of the matter at hand, the officer added.
