A special POCSO Court in Thane, Maharashtra has acquitted a tribal man from Palghar district, nearly six years after being accused of molesting a minor girl.
Special POCSO Judge VV Virkar found that the prosecution did not establish the charges against Pravin Palave (26) beyond a reasonable doubt, leading to his exoneration.
The incident, according to the prosecution, occurred on the night of November 11, 2017, when Palave allegedly entered the house of a 17-year-old girl and molested her, resulting in his booking under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Advocate Ramrao Jagtap, who represented Palave, vehemently argued that his client played no part in the “so-called” incident and highlighted what he viewed as deficiencies in the police investigation. After considering both sides’ arguments, the court concluded that the prosecution had failed to prove the case against Palave, warranting his release.
