Thane district court in Maharashtra has convicted a man and his two sisters in the case of his wife’s death. The victim was subjected to harassment and set on fire.
Additional District Judge Pranaykumar Mohan Gupta has found the three accused guilty of charges under Section 304(I) (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

The court has sentenced Nasruddin Nuruddin Khan (27) and his elder sister Tahira (29) to seven years of rigorous imprisonment, while his younger sister Jerina Shahrukh Khan (25) received a five-years of rigorous imprisonment. Additionally, a fine of Rs 2,000 was imposed on each of the three accused.

The Additional Public Prosecutor, Varsha Chandane, informed the court that the victim, Amina Nasruddin Khan, had married Nasruddin in 2017 but was subjected to harassment by him and her sisters-in-law. On the morning of April 29, 2018, the accused had a quarrel with the victim, abused her, and physically assaulted her. Subsequently, Tahira poured kerosene on the victim, and Jerina instructed Nasruddin to set her on fire. The victim suffered severe burn injuries and ultimately passed away while receiving treatment at a hospital on May 3. During the trial, ten prosecution witnesses were examined, as stated by the prosecutor.
