Recently, India’s top men’s doubles duo, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, and Chirag Shetty secured a spot in the quarterfinals following a victory on Thursday.

Popularly known as ‘Sat-Chi’ among fans, the pair managed to sail through to the last eight stages after defeating China’s Xie Hao Nan and Zeng Wei Han with scores of 21-16, and 21-11. With their eyes, now set on another Thailand Open title, Rankireddy and Shetty now aiming to repeat their success.

Meanwhile, former junior world number two player Meiraba Luwang Maisnam continued to impress at the tournament.

Following his upset win against senior compatriot HS Prannoy in the previous round, Maisnam overcame a significant challenge to defeat Denmark’s Mads Christensen, ranked 54th globally, with scores of 21-14, 22-20.

His remarkable victory was characterized by his resilience in overcoming a substantial deficit in the second game, ultimately securing a place in the quarterfinals.

However, the Indian women’s singles campaign came to a halt as Ashmita Chaliha faced a defeat against China’s Han Yue, who is ranked seventh globally. Despite a spirited effort, Chaliha succumbed to Han Yue with scores of 15-21, 21-12, 12-21, losing the second-round match after a thrilling decider.

In mixed doubles, India’s Sathish Kumar Karunakaran and Aadya Varinath faced disappointment, losing to Indonesia’s Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Haningtyas with scores of 21-19, 21-17 in their second-round encounter.

The Thailand Open, held in Bangkok from May 14 to May 19, continues to witness intense competition among top players vying for coveted titles and accolades.
