The Indian Army has reported that a terrorist was killed during an ongoing anti-infiltration operation in the Uri sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a post on X, the Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed the development, stating: “One terrorist has been killed in the ongoing anti-infiltration Operation that was launched on 22 Jun in the Uri Sector; operations are continuing.”
The encounter began yesterday evening after security forces detected an infiltration attempt in the Gohallan area of Uri. According to an Army spokesperson, a group of terrorists was spotted attempting to cross into Indian territory along the LoC. The security forces challenged the infiltrators, successfully foiling the infiltration bid.
“The group was challenged by the security forces, resulting in an exchange of fire that led to the elimination of one terrorist,” the spokesperson said. The operation is still in progress, and further details are awaited as security forces continue to monitor the area for any additional threats.
The successful foiling of this infiltration attempt underscores the vigilance and preparedness of the Indian Army in safeguarding the borders and preventing the entry of terrorists into the region.
The ongoing operation reflects the continued efforts to maintain security and stability in the sensitive border areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
