Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have successfully thwarted a major terror plot aimed at disrupting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the region. In a coordinated operation involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and SOG Poonch, a registered Over-Ground Worker (OGW) and terror associate identified as Qamaruddin was apprehended in Hari Budha.

Qamaruddin, a headmaster at a local government school, was found harbouring a significant arsenal of weaponry, including a Pakistani-manufactured pistol and Chinese grenades. This alarming discovery underscores the grave intentions behind the plot, with the recovered items suspected to have been intended for use in election-related disturbances.

The joint operation, executed by the 39 RR of 6 Sector and Romeo Force alongside Jammu and Kashmir Police and SOG Poonch, reflects the determination of security agencies to preempt any attempts at subverting the electoral process. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the full extent of the plot and bring all involved parties to justice.

This development comes at a crucial time as Jammu and Kashmir proceeds with multi-phased elections across its parliamentary constituencies. The efforts of security forces reaffirm their unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety electoral proceedings amidst persisting challenges in the region.
