In Telangana’s Sangareddy, a Muslim man faced severe consequences after uploading a reel in which he insulted the bhagwa or saffron flag, featuring the Hindu religious symbol ‘Om.’ The reel depicted the man inserting the saffron flag inside his pants in a disrespectful manner.

The video quickly sparked outrage in the community, leading to a mob assaulting the Muslim man. Videos circulating on social media captured the mob chanting “Jai Shri Ram” while beating the individual. The situation escalated, resulting in the man being paraded naked, and attempts were made to set his private parts on fire.

Villagers filed a complaint against the Muslim man, accusing him of hurting the sentiments of Hindus. The police have booked him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 153(a), 295-A, and 505(2).

In retaliation, the Muslim man lodged a complaint against the villagers for assaulting him. The police, in turn, have booked the locals under IPC sections 341, 323, 505(2), and 506.

The incident underscores the importance of promoting tolerance and understanding among different communities to prevent such instances of violence. Police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
